CILIP London: The UK Print Book Collection - A Year of Progress Securing Access to Content Now and for the Future
Tuesday 20th October - 1:00pm-2:00pm
Nearly one year on from its launch, join us to explore how the UK Print Book Collection (UK PBC) is transforming the way libraries safeguard access to scarce print monographs. This national collaboration, supported by RLUK, SCONUL, Jisc and the British Library, coordinates retention across the sector to ensure that at least seven libraries hold a copy of each print book. Powered by the National Bibliographic Knowledgebase (NBK), it gives libraries the confidence to make space and collections decisions without risking long term access.
This session will include case studies from members and show how the UK PBC has been safeguarding monographs and benefiting its members, how your institution can join, and how being part of this initiative can strengthen both local and national collections.
This event is relevant to PKSB areas:
- Area 01: Collection Management and Development
- Area 08: Records Management and Archiving
- Area 12: Strategy, Planning and Management
