Supporting Information Literacy in the Age of Deep Fakes: the Deep Truth Project

Join us on 8 October for the launch of a new deepfake literacy lesson that you can take away and deliver in your own school.

As AI-generated content becomes increasingly sophisticated, school librarians have an important role to play in helping pupils develop the critical thinking and information literacy skills they need to explore the online world with confidence.

@DeepTruthProject and @WikimediaUK have produced a ready-to-teach lesson pack on deepfakes for secondary school pupils. This train-the-trainer session, run in collaboration with the School Library Association and @CILIP School Libraries Group, will walk you through the pack and how to deliver it. Attendees get first access to the full set of materials.

This session is ideal if you deliver information literacy or research skills sessions, collaborate with teaching staff or support your school's wider digital literacy strategy. You will leave with the lesson itself and the confidence to teach it.

Speakers

Ashmita Rajmohan leads the Deep Truth Project (deeptruthproject.org), a charity promoting deepfake and synthetic media literacy in the UK. She also hosts The Deepfake Dialogues, a podcast exploring the societal implications of the technology.

Dr Sally Latham is Education Lead at Wikimedia UK , where she works on delivering media and information literacy in schools. She is an executive member of the Children's Media Foundation. She previously taught philosophy in Further Education.
